Mining operations often bypass local farming communities for recruitment and procurement opportunities, limiting employment and business participation for local residents. ERJA advocates for fair inclusion and equitable access to economic opportunities.

The organization monitors threats posed by mining activities to agricultural land, water sources, and local infrastructure while promoting environmental accountability and sustainable resource management.

South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC)
Serves as our paramount Chapter 9 constitutional mechanism to escalate and formally report systemic environmental racism, corporate pollution of communal water sources, or a failure of basic municipal service delivery.
Mining Affected Communities United in Action
Collaborates on civic mobilization frameworking, community human rights education, and national legislative lobbying campaigns for mining law amendments.
Centre for Environmental Rights (CER)
Technical and legal pipeline mapping tool for monitoring and challenging deeply flawed Water Use Licenses (WULs) and Environmental Authorisations (EAs) issued to corporate mining houses.

Operational synergy to ensure the long-term defense of high-yield commercial and emerging agricultural soils from destructive, un-rehabilitated open-cast mining operations.
